MetroStars partner with Beyond Blue

MetroStars has chosen to proudly support Beyond Blue in our anniversary year.

We recognise that we as a club have a very powerful role to play in people's lives. Be it the physical benefits players get from our training and games, or the social benefits of the weekly ritual of coming down to play or watch our games, these all play a valuable part in individuals' mental health. MetroStars is committed and has set its mind to making a positive mental health impact in our community.

MetroStars want to do our bit by raising awareness of mental health, by encouraging people to seek help and to speak out. The supporting Beyond Blue logo will appear on the playing kit of all teams in 2020. We are also raising money to help fund Beyond Blue’s Support Service which in turn helps all Australian Communities.

Many of us have been affected by anxiety and depression, either personally or through family, friends or colleagues. Right now, over 1 million people in Australia experience depression and 2 million are experiencing anxiety. On average, 8 people take their lives every day in Australia. We share in Beyond Blue’s vision is for all people in Australia to achieve their best possible mental health.

The funds and awareness we raise will help Beyond Blue to support people to protect their mental health and to recover when they are unwell, reduce people’s experiences of stigma and discrimination, and improve people’s opportunities to get effective support and services at the right time.

With your support, Beyond Blue will continue to innovate and deliver new services and programs, distribute free information resources and share powerful stories of hope and recovery across Australia, fund world-leading research, roll out evidence-based campaigns and advocate for all people in Australia affected by anxiety, depression and suicide.
