Get To Know - Hamish Gow

We sat down with midfielder Hamish Gow ahead of our league game against Campbelltown City to find out more about him in our Get To Know series.

Q: MetroStars debut?

It was Round 1 of the 2018 season against Campbelltown.

Q. What attracted you to playing football?

My whole family played so I was always going to be playing from a young age weather I liked it or not.

Q. What brought you to Metro?

The reserves assistant coach at the time said there were some spots left in the Under 18's and so I came out for a training and loved it.

Q. How long have you been at Metro?

I’ve been at Metro since 2016.

Q. How many years have you played football for, and for what clubs?

I’ve been playing for 17 years now. I started at Valley View Soccer Club when I was 3, then went to Para Hills Knights for 6 years and now at MetroStars.

Q. Biggest influence on your career?

Definitely my dad, always giving me a pre-game talk and then getting in my ear after the game about where I went wrong.

Q. Do you have any footballing superstitions and a favourite number? It’s not really a superstition but I always put on my right boot on before my left. My favourite number is 17.

Q. What club do you support and why? Half my family is from Manchester and the other half is from Glasgow so I didn’t have much of a choice other than to support Man United and Rangers!

Q. Who is your favourite player in the world and why?

Can’t go past Eden Hazard (even though I’m nothing similar!). He makes everything look so effortless and magical. He’s top boy. Also love what Sergio Ramos brings to the pitch.

Q. Greatest on-field moment? My favourite player would have to be Paul Scholes. Just because of his technical ability and passing range.

Q. Who do you love to beat?

I always love to beat the top teams like Campbeltown.

Q. Who has been your toughest opponent?

Alex Mullen.
