Thank you Adam Van Dommele

North Eastern MetroStars wishes to advise that former Club Captain Adam Van Dommele has advised the club of his attentions to explore other playing opportunities for next season. Van Dommele joined the club in 2009, and will be known as having an illustrious career for the club including captaining the club to the first National NPL Title in 2014. Van Dommele has played 233 matches for the club, currently sitting as the fourth most played matches for the club. His achievements since joining from South Melbourne also includes captaining the squad from 2014 to 2016, 2 League Championships, 5 Minor Premierships and 3 Federation Cup titles. Club President Andrew Perrone thanked Van Dommele for his leadership and professionalism during his time with MetroStars. “Since joining MetroStars Adam has always approached his role at the club in the most professional manner. Both on and off the field he has demonstrated his leadership qualities around the team and the leadership group both as a player, captain and mentor to many aspiring young players,” said Perrone. “His dedication and commitment to the team and the club has been unquestionable with a track record to show. Adam will be missed at the club but will not be forgotten as his legacy epitomises the brand that is MetroStars today.” “I take this opportunity on behalf to wish Adam well as he hangs the boots from NPL, and look forward and welcome to a return of some form to MetroStars in the not too distant future,” said Perrone.

Van Dommele has made a huge impact on and off the field for the club, including mentoring youth players and arranging past players events. Whilst the club hoped that he would remain with the club for next season, the club fully understands his decision. “Unfortunately you can’t play at the top level forever and after talking with my loved ones and close friends, I have decided that my playing career at MetroStars has come to an end,” said Van Dommele. “I am one of those really lucky players who when I joined MetroStars, I also joined a great family. My memories of the club will only be positive. There has been so many great people that have been involved with MetroStars during my time from the committee, loyal sponsors, volunteers, members, coaches and all of the players. I thank all of them for providing an environment which lead to some great success.” “I have made many great friendships during my time at MetroStars and will endeavour to keep in touch with as many of you as possible. Hopefully I will see many familiar faces at home games in the future where we can enjoy a beverage or two.” “I always took great pride in representing the club. I leave knowing that I gave my all every week in trying to lead by example in the way I trained, prepared and applied myself game days.” “I see great things ahead for the club, as the current group of players are definitely on a journey to having more success in the not too distant future. I am eager to see the development of this group continue and wish them all the best.” “I will always have a special place in my heart for the club and will always follow its progress closely. Thank you for the support that everyone has showed me over the years, it will not be forgotten.” North Eastern MetroStars, along with its players, officials, members and sponsors wish Adam and his family all the very best in his future endeavours.
