MetroStars Down Eagles

North Eastern MetroStars remain top of the National Premier League – SA table after a convincing 2-0 victory over West Torrens Birkalla at TK Shutter Reserve today.

MetroStars took the lead after 13 minutes, when Tom Strain was brought down in the box.

Christian Esposito stepped up and slotted the penalty past Eagles goalkeeper Alex Woodlands, to take his goal scoring tally for the season to 11 goals.

Five minutes later, Esposito nearly doubled MetroStars lead, but his shot was saved by Woodlands.

Straight after half time, MetroStars came out attacking, and double their lead when Anthony Solagna slipped the ball through to Matt Dawber, who rounded Woodlands, to make it 2-0.

Cohen Morris nearly made it 3-0 after 71 minutes, but his shot just sailed over the crossbar.
