MetroStars Overrun West Adelaide
North Eastern MetroStars moved back to the top of the National Premier League - SA table with an emphatic 5-2 victory over West Adelaide Hellas at TK Shutter Reserve.
MetroStars controlled much of the first half, and were rewarded with the lead when Hamish Gow cleverly chipped the ball into the box, finding Matt Dawber to header the ball into the six yard box, with a mix up between Hellas goalkeeper Liam Moss and defender, allowing Anthony Solagna the easiest of tap ins.
MetroStars went 2-0 up, when Peter Eleftherakis turned over the ball on the half way line, with Liam Wooding intercepting the ball, playing the ball out wide to Dawber, who beat two defenders, and cut the ball into the box, with Wooding slotting the ball past Moss.
Hellas got back into the match 8 minutes after half time, when John Karatzas crossed into the box and found Theo Balomenos free on the penalty spot, who slotted the ball past Issac Carmody.
MetroStars restored the two goal advantage four minutes later, when Wooding's corner looked to have been over kicked, but Christian Esposito stuck out his leg to deflect the ball back into the congestion, with Dawber flicking the ball into the net.
But Hellas werent done yet, and got a goal back, when Balomenos played through a clever ball to substitute Matthew Bouzalas, who slotted past Carmody.
MetroStars again restored their two goal advantage with 14 minutes remaining, when Rocky Callisto played a ball out wide to Justin Davis, who crossed the ball to the far side of the box and found Wooding to score his second goal of the match.
And the match was all over when Christian Esposito scored after Dawber secured the ball from a turnover, and gave it off to Esposito to fire past Moss from outside the 18 yard box.
