Comets Hold MetroStars To Draw

North Eastern MetroStars and Adelaide Comets played out a hard fought 1-1 draw tonight at SA Athletics Stadium in Round 18 of the National Premier League – SA competition.

The first chance of the match fell to MetroStars when Anthony Solagna played through Christian Esposito, whose shot just went wide of the goals.

Just before half time MetroStars took the lead, when Matthew Dawber popped up to score his ninth goal of the season.

Comets piled on the pressure in the second half, with MetroStars able to hold out until the 78th minute, when Mitch Nicholson headed home from a corner.

The result saw MetroStars draw their first match of the season, while fourth placed Comets’ point gives them a nine point lead over fifth placed Adelaide United.
