Get To Know - Stefan Cali


We sat down with defender Stefan Cali ahead of our Double Header against Adelaide Comets to find out more about him in our Get To Know series.

Q: MetroStars debut?

Senior debut: 2012-13 season (Rick Cerracchio was the coach).

Q. What attracted you to playing football?

The enjoyment of playing.

Q. What brought you to Metro?

I came to Metro in 2009 to play U17’s after not being selected for another scholarship at SASI and I couldn’t have been happier with my decision.

Q. How long have you been at Metro?

Since 2009 but I have moved back and forth to SASI, Adelaide United & White City throughout the last 10 years.

Q. How many years have you played football for, and for what clubs?

5 clubs: - Modbury Vista (juniors), Adelaide City (juniors), MetroStars (juniors and seniors), SASI (seniors), White City and Adelaide United Youth.

Q. Biggest influence on your career?

My father

Q. Do you have any footballing superstitions and a favourite number?

My favourite number is 26.

Q. What club do you support and why?

I originally supported Leeds when I was really young but changed to Liverpool when Harry Kewell moved there.

Q. Who is your favourite player in the world and why?

I loved Steven Gerrard when he played.

Q. Greatest on-field moment?

2014 season being awarded NPL rising star.

Q. Who do you love to beat?

Anyone, especially games that have been hard to win.

Q. Who has been your toughest opponent?

Every player has been tough, I never take any opponent to be easy to play against.
