Football SA to honour Steven Grelli
North Eastern MetroStars also would like to congratulate Steven Grelli on his nomination for Life Membership of Football South Australia for his outstanding contribution to football in South Australia.
Grelli made his senior debut for Adelaide Galaxy (now West Torrens Birkalla in 2004. He went to make 71 appearances and scored 15 goals. Then MetroStars coach Mike Barrnett brought Grelli to T.K. Shutter Reserve in 2009 and helped the team to the League Championship and Minor Premiership. Two more Minor Premierships were added as well as becoming MetroStars Club Champion in 2010 and winning the Sergio Melta medal in 2011. Work commitments took Grelli to Northern Demons for the 2013 season where he won the State League Player of the Season.
Grelli returned to MetroStars the following year and won a second Club Champion award in the clubs greatest year to date. Steven helped Metro win another minor Premiership, reach the Grand Final and bring back the 2014 NPL National Championship. Grelli played his final season at Adelaide Comets, helping them to the 2016 Federation Cup Final.
