2027 - Junior Boys Phase Leaders Announced
MetroStars is excited to announce the following Phase Leader appointments for our Junior Boys teams for season 2027.
Heirmann Hussain
We are delighted to announce that Heirman Hussain will take on the role of Youth Boys Performance Phase Lead for the 2027 season.
Following his appointment as our Foundation Phase Lead this season, Heirman has continued to make a strong contribution to the development of our players and coaches across the club.
With extensive coaching experience across a range of age groups and football environments, Heirman brings a strong focus on player development, coaching standards and creating clear pathways for young players to progress.
In his new role, Heirman will work closely with our U12 to U16 Youth Performance teams and coaches, supporting the continued development of our players from both a technical and tactical perspective, while helping create greater consistency across the phase.
His appointment reflects our commitment to building a strong and sustainable player development pathway at MetroStars, with the right people leading and supporting our young players at every stage.
We’re excited to see Heirman take on this next challenge and continue his work in helping shape the future of MetroStars.
Ernie Luongo
We are delighted to announce that Ernie Lungo will continue his role as Phase Leader / Technical Director for our Foundation Phase (MiniRoos) for season 2027.
Ernie is synonymous with junior development pathway at MetroStars having run the Shooting Stars and Rising Stars programs for over 20 years, whilst also overseeing various junior development player and coach programs at the club.
Ernie's passion has always been to provide the best possible environment for children to learn, enjoy the game, and grow not only as footballers but also as people.
Throughout his journey, both in the past and now in the present as a Junior / Miniroo Technical Director, Ernie has been fortunate to coach across senior and junior levels. These experiences have reinforced the importance of building a strong foundation of learning and development for every player, regardless of age or stage of their football journey.
Just as importantly, Ernie believe in investing in our phase leaders and coaches — guiding them to strengthen their football knowledge while also developing valuable life skills. Coaching is about more than drills and tactics; it is about mentorship, shaping positive role models, and inspiring the next generation of young minds to understand the game and uphold values to one another.
Ernie's ongoing commitment to junior development at MetroStars is what drives our club forward and ensures that we continue to provide opportunities for all to succeed.
Glenn McVeity
MetroStars is pleased to announce Glenn McVeity as our new Junior Boys YSL Phase Leader, overseeing the U12, U13, U14 and U15 YSL boys programs, as well as the U17 YPL.
Glenn has been part of the MetroStars coaching program for the past three seasons, bringing a wealth of experience from his time as an assistant coach across multiple teams.
In 2026, Glenn has stepped into the role of U17 Head Coach, further demonstrating his commitment to developing young players and supporting their progression through the club.
Glenn’s focus in his new role will be on creating a strong and consistent development pathway, helping players grow both on and off the field and ultimately preparing them for the MetroStars senior system.
His coaching philosophy is centred around developing the complete player — from fitness and technical ability to decision-making, competitiveness and teamwork — while challenging every player to achieve their best.
