Message From Danny
Hear from our Head Coach Danny Graystone before tomorrow night's match against West Adelaide.
Welcome to Round 5 of the NPL 2023 season.
Today we welcome all supporters and officials of West Adelaide FC to Round 5 of the Senior NPL competition.
Our last two away fixtures saw us win 6-1 away against Croydon FC in the 4th Round of the NPL and also continue our progress in this years Federation Cup with a hard fought 4-0 victory against an industrious Cumberland United side. Whilst we weren’t at our best in the Croydon fixture, particularly in the first half, we maintained our game plan and managed to play some excellent attacking football enabling us to eventually wear the opposition down and get the result that some our excellent attacking moments deserved.
We knew that the Federation Cup tie against Cumberland was going to be a difficult game following our pre-season encounter with them and we were right with Cumberland proving very difficult to break down in the first half on a warm day Bailey Reserve. Eventually we managed to break through their tight defensive unit and continued to push forward to seal the victory and enter into the pot for the next round of the Federation Cup.
Two very good results however a lot of work to do on the training ground if we are going to be in contention at the end of both of these competitions this season.
I would like to thank you all for your support in our last two away trips. I know the team appreciate you getting behind us during these difficult games and giving up your free time to come and support the club.
This week we welcome West Adelaide FC. Coming off a very good win against Modbury in their last league fixture they will be looking to build on that momentum and will provide a very difficult challenge for us today. We have worked hard on the training ground this week to improve in some key areas that we think could potentially be the difference for us. Hopefully the players take that onto the pitch today and maintain the level of work rate and determination they have shown in the early rounds.
Finally another big congratulations to both the U18s and reserves sides on progressing through to the next round cup competition. We look forward to the draw and seeing who all three teams will face off against in the next round.
As always, thank you for your support and lets get behind the players this evening as we look to get another win for all our supporters here at TK Shutter.
Yours in football
Danny Graystone
