Message From Danny

Hear from our Head Coach Danny Graystone before today's match against Croydon FC.

Welcome to Round 15 of the NPL 2023 season.

Today we welcome all the supporters and officials of Croydon Kings to Round 15 of the NPL season in what is a really special occasion as we celebrate the annual Indigenous Round here at TK Shutter Reserve as well as a double header with Metro United taking on Football SA NTC. A big thank you to the generosity of Beyond Bank for their support of this occasion.

It’s been a while since we were here at T.K Shutter as we headed off for four challenging away fixtures which we knew would give us a good indication to how far we had progressed this season.

Following two convincing victories against Modbury Jets at home 5-1 and Adelaide Comets Away 3-0 we had the opportunity to amend for our early season defeat against FK Beograd on a a cold and wet Friday night at Frank Mitchell Park. It is always a difficult fixture on a Friday night especially in difficult conditions however the boys more than stood up to the task and brought home the points with an important 4-0 victory.

This led us nicely into last weeks top of the table clash against Campbelltown. After a narrow win early in the season we knew that this was going to be a close game and that we would have to perform at our very best to keep our position at the top of the table.

Despite dominating large periods of the game and producing numerous chances we were unable to break through the Campbelltown City defence until the second half. However we kept a clean sheet for the remainder of the game and brought home the points to open a 5 point gap at the top of the table in what was a great result against the team that has been our closest rivals this season.

Finally we travelled to Service FM this week to take on West Torrens Birkella for an important game that had a dual reward in the final of the South Australia Cup and entry into the last 32 of the Australia Cup. One of the main goals we set out as a club this season was to get MetroStars back onto the National stage and the team did just that emphatically this week as we progressed through both competitions with a resounding 5-0 win.

A big thank you to all the supporters that travelled with us to these games - we all appreciate you battling the elements to get behind the team.

After all those away trips we are happy to be back home and must be at our very best today to overcome a tough Croydon side who are starting to show some form and will also battle themselves this week in their own cup semi final to progress into the Round of 32 of the FFA Cup - we wish them all the best - after todays game of course.

As always, thank you for your support and lets get vocal tonight as we look to get another win for all our supporters here at TK Shutter,

Yours in football

Danny Graystone
