Hear from our Head Coach Danny Graystone before tomorrow's match against Adelaide United.
Welcome to Round 7 of the NPL 2023 season.
Our last away fixture saw us win 2-1 away against a very industrious South Adelaide Panthers team - those of you who were at the game would have experienced the atmosphere that is created away at O'Sullivans Beach on a Friday night - It was a big challenge for us in what I consider to be one of the toughest away games of the calendar year. To come away with the 3 points is a real testament to the resilience and character we are starting to build within the playing group.
A special mention must go out to Anthony Solagna and Isaac Carmody who played their 350th and 200th games respectively. Both put in fine performances to mark the milestone with 3 points with Isaac pulling off an excellent penalty save in the second half when the momentum of the game had begun to swing away from us.
Congratulations to both of them and what fine role models for all the junior players at the club.
Following the weekends results we go back to the top of the table and whilst we have no doubt earnt the right to be there, staying there is going to give us the biggest challenge as we now become the team that everyone wants to beat.
Today will be no exception.
The boys have trained extremely hard this week to ensure that we continue to build on the performances over the past few rounds - we all know we still have a long way to go to build that consistency in performances that we are looking for and we are working tirelessly behind the scenes to make sure that we do that.
Today we welcome the Adelaide United Youth Squad to TK Shutter Reserve for Round 7 of the Senior NPL competition.
Both the senior and youth teams have been in fine form this season with some good quality attacking football on display and whilst we cannot fully prepare for what players will be involved in todays match day squad - we know that we will be facing some of SA’s most talented young footballers which should provide for a really entertaining football match. So get behind the players tonight and help us secure a vital 3 points to keep us at the top of that table.
Finally another big congratulations to both the U18s and reserves sides on their continued success in their respective competitions. Some tough away victories for both sides in some very competitive games last week saw them both clinch victories and 3 points on their travels.
As always, thank you for your support and lets get vocal this evening as we look to get another win for all our supporters here at TK Shutter.
Yours in football
Danny Graystone
