MetroStars announce annual sponsors luncheon
Following on from the hugely successful sponsors event last year with guest speaker Tim Jarvis AM, MetroStars is proud to announce that the 2021 Sponsors Lunch and Business Networking event will be held on Friday 6th August in our clubrooms at T.K. Shutter Reserve, Klemzig.
This invitation only event is exclusive to MetroStars sponsors and invited guests.
This year, we will have world renowned former international cricketer, political activist, author and entertainer Henry Olonga as our keynote speaker.
Henry Olonga
Henry Olonga is a truly remarkable man. He has had to overcome racial inequality to claim a place on the Zimbabwean national cricket team and was youngest-ever player to represent his homeland at international level.
In 2003, he was a key player in the Cricket World Cup team, making international headlines and courting controversy when, he along with Andy Flower, wore a black armband protesting the “death of democracy” against the Zimbabwean government led by Robert Mugabe.
Internationally praised for his bravery on that day, wearing the armband triggered the end of Henry’s cricket career. He received death threats and was shamed locally for his actions, unable to return to his homeland.
Henry’s story is a wonderful mix of conviction and charm, his life has taken him from national sporting hero to political exile and to being a contestant on The Voice in Australia.
Look out for more details on this exclusive event in the coming weeks.
