MetroStars Record First Loss Of Season
Written by Antonis Pangonis
After two impressive away wins, the MetroStars finally hosted their first game at TK Shutter Reserve against the plucky Croydon.
Travis Dodd’s Kings knew a fast start was required against the high flying hosts, and that is exactly what they served up. The pressure got to Metro stopper Paul Blefari, who gave away a penalty 25 minutes into the matchup; Dion Kirk made no mistake from the spot to put the visitors up first.
Metro were to have the last say in the half though, with Alessio Melisi using his pace to burn off the Kings’ backline and bring the hosts level.
The game was decided by the individual brilliance of Antoni Trimboli on the left wing, who dribbled past his marker and put the ball on a silver platter for Dion Kirk. He made no mistake to double his tally and upset the MetroStars.
