Good evening and welcome to TK Shutter Reserve for tonight’s Round 21 NPL SA clash as we take on Croydon FC.
It’s been an extraordinary few weeks for the club — a period that has tested us in many ways, but ultimately highlighted the strength, belief, and unity within this group.
In Round 19, we hosted Modbury Jets with the Premiership on the line. Against a quality opponent and in challenging conditions, the boys rose to the occasion with a composed and commanding 3-1 win — securing our third consecutive NPL SA Premiership. Sustaining that level of performance over three years is no easy feat and speaks volumes about the professionalism and dedication of everyone across the club. It also confirms our qualification for the inaugural Australian Championship, the new National Second Division launching in October 2025.

Hot on the heels of that achievement, we travelled to Canberra for the Australia Cup Round of 32, facing a strong and well-supported Canberra Croatia side. The players stepped up once again, delivering one of our most complete performances of the season to secure a 4-0 win and a place in the Round of 16. We now look forward to hosting A-League side Macarthur FC here at TK Shutter Reserve on Monday, August 11 — a huge occasion for the club and a chance to showcase what MetroStars football is all about on the national stage.

That momentum continued into Round 20, where we faced Adelaide Comets away. After being reduced to 10 men just eight minutes into the match, the group produced an outstanding display of resilience, discipline, and character to grind out a 2-1 win — a result that speaks volumes about the mindset and togetherness within this squad.
That match also marked a significant milestone for the club and one of its most respected leaders, with club captain Fabian Barbiero making his 300th appearance for MetroStars. Fabian’s leadership, professionalism, and unwavering commitment have been instrumental to the club’s culture and long-term success. Reaching 300 games is an outstanding achievement and a testament to his enduring impact on and off the pitch.
Tonight, we welcome Croydon FC — a side enjoying an impressive season and fighting hard for a top-two finish. We know they’ll arrive with confidence and motivation, and we look forward to what promises to be another fiercely contested match between two proud clubs.
Finally, a heartfelt thank you to our volunteers, sponsors, and supporters. Your passion and support — whether at home, away, or behind the scenes — continue to drive us forward.
Enjoy the match, and thank you for being part of this incredible journey.
Yours in football,
Danny Graystone
