Welcome From Dana Wortley MP

Welcome to T.K. Shutter Reserve, Klemzig - Warkowodliwodli - in the heart of the electorate of Torrens, home of the North Eastern MetroStars, for the Australia Cup Round of 32 clash between MetroStars and Inglewood United.

A club with a proud history, South Australia’s MetroStars have an impressive record being the 2014 NPL National Champions and FFA Cup Last 16 qualifier in 2015, and Round of 32 qualifiers in 2016, 2017, and now in 2023, in the renamed Australia Cup.

With only a week before the exciting new development of inclusive change facilities, toilets, showers, umpire and first aid rooms are rolled out, an Australia Cup tie at the Round of 32 stage is being played at T.K. Shutter Reserve for the first time.

Also hitting a high tonight are the visitors, Western Australia’s Inglewood United playing in the first Australia Cup Round of 32 tie in their club’s history. A wonderful achievement!

Congratulations to both clubs, their players, coaches, committee members, volunteers, and families on their success to date.

After what has been a historic week for Australian football that started with the Matildas recording Australia’s biggest ever win at a FIFA World Cup, this evening one of these two proud clubs will make history reaching the Round of 16 of the Australia Cup, 2023.

Tonight, may the spirit of the world game be on show for all to see!
