Message From Danny

Hear from our Head Coach Danny Graystone before tomorrow's match against Adelaide Olympic.

Welcome to Round 9 of the NPL 2023 season.

Today we welcome Adelaide Olympic officials and supporters to TK Shutter Reserve as we look to build on really positive performances in the past few weeks.

When we were last here we unfortunately lost to current table toppers Adelaide United Youth 2-1. Despite dominating possession after going down to 10 men early in the proceedings we could not take advantage of our dominance and failed to convert numerous chances and unfortunately lost out to a swift counter attack. Adelaide United have made it very clear in their intent to win the NPL this year dropping down numerous players from the first team squad into the Youth team squad and will be serious contenders.

Following this disappointing result we travelled to Service FC stadium to face Adelaide Comets in the preliminary round of the South Australian Cup. A really dominant display saw us win 4-1 and progress to the next round against Adelaide Cobras who will be bringing some ex MetroStars players back to TK Shutter Reserve for a place in the semi finals. They will no doubt feel that they have a point to prove and following a convincing win against F.K. Beograd they will be coming here with confidence and nothing to lose.

Friday saw us travel to Oakden to take on current champions Adelaide City. Despite once again dominating play we failed to put away our chances and came away with a disappointing 0-0 which removed us from the top of the table.

All credit must go to our players who have been in fantastic form over the past few weeks and despite not quite getting the points they deserved for their performances - we are confident that if we continue to play in the manner which we have been playing over the past few weeks that those results will come and we will see the reward of all the hard work and effort we are putting into our game both on and off the pitch.

Today will be a difficult game for us.

Despite Adelaide Olympic’s relatively indifferent start to the season they have recently changed coaches and are coming off a very good result against high flying Modbury Jets at the weekend. They will be coming into this game with their tails up and we must show the same level of performance that we have shown in recent weeks to take the points from this game.

Finally another big congratulations to both the U18s and reserves sides on their continued success in their respective competitions. Some excellent performances over the past few weeks with some excellent results.
