Today we’ll have a quick look at the Junior Boys Cup.

Along with our regular season, our Junior Premier League (JPL) and Junior State League (JSL) teams have been competing in the Junior Boys Cup tournament.

This tournament is a 5 game knockout competition culminating in a grand final on Sunday 17th September.  At the end of each round, half the teams across the state drop out of the competition.  Both JPL and JSL teams will compete against other randomly drawn JPL and JSL teams at each age level as they strive to reach the Grand Final.  Not only does this give the opportunity for JSL teams to play against JPL teams, but it also gives teams the ability to play other teams that are out of their geographical league.

We have now reached the quarter finals and 4 MetroStars teams are all in the running for the coveted cup.  On the weekend of 30th June to 2nd July, our Under 12, 13, 14 and 16 JPL teams will compete against other teams in their respective age groups.

If past history is a predictor to the future, then we would expect that most of our teams will claim victory at the end of the competition.  Until then however, our teams will focus on winning their next round.

Come to TK Shutter on 2nd July to support our U13 and U14 teams, as they compete against Modbury Vista and Gawler (from 8:45am) or support our U12 and U16 team as they compete against West Adelaide and Campbelltown City away.  Check the FFSA website to confirm kick off times.

North Eastern MetroStars wishes to advise that Robbie Saraceno has been appointed Senior Head Coach for next season’s National Premier League - SA competition.

Club President Andrew Perrone made the official announcement today.

"I mentioned in my previous announcement earlier this year, that Robbie Saraceno, who was our Assistant Coach at the time, was the obvious choice to take the reins following Michael Pirone’s resignation,” Said Perrone.

"Fast forward from Round 8 where we were sitting in relegation zone on seven points, to Round 22 which has seen a 28 point turnaround to bring our team into finals contention.”

"This is attributed firstly by the efforts of the players to step up, but also from the leadership qualities that Robbie has brought to the team. His meticulous planning, clear direction and belief in our team has inspired confidence through the playing group and support staff to strive and achieve our goals.”

Saraceno guided our club to our fourth Federation Cup title this season, which led us to another shot at the FFA Cup competition.

"Our team’s performance in the recent FFA Cup Round of 32 against Bentleigh Greens is a tribute to the progress made since Round 8 and effort from all around,” said Perrone.

"Robbie has proven his worth as head coach for the MetroStars and deserved appointment to the role for next season.”

Saraceno, who previously coached White City Woodville for three seasons between 2012-2014, is looking forward to the challenge.

"I didn’t have any intention of coaching again to be honest, but during the year the passion came back to me,” said Saraceno.

"Now I am looking forward to working with a good bunch of players to hopefully see them develop and be successful.”

"Our focus at the moment is this weekend’s elimination finals match against WT Birkalla.”

We congratulate Robbie Saraceno on his new appointment, and wish him well in for the Final Series campaign commencing this weekend.
